Kate Lenz – Executive Director
Kate is our Executive Director and leads the team providing outstanding care to the residents at Charter Senior Living of Williamsburg. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and has a management background in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing. She also holds an Assisted Living Preceptor License and is passionate about training and developing future administrators. Kate is a proven Executive Director who has been with Charter since 2021, having most recently served at Charter Senior Living of Fredericksburg. She graduated from Christopher Newport University with a B.S. in business administration, management concentration. In her spare time, Kate enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, including her two dogs. Caring for seniors is Kate’s passion, and she was inspired by her grandfather to pursue a career in senior living. Kate leads with compassion and is committed to supporting Charter’s mission of enhancing the human spirit of our residents and team.
Elaine Pridgen – Sales Director
Elaine is our Sales Director, serving both Charter Senior Living of Williamsburg and Dominion Village at Williamsburg. She is dedicated to helping future residents and their families find the right place to call home.
Elaine brings more than 25 years of experience in hospitality, sales, and marketing. Her career includes over 25 years in hotel sales and marketing with well-known brands such as Marriott, Hilton, and IHG. In 2015, she transitioned into senior living in the Hampton Roads area, where she found her passion for helping seniors and their families navigate important living decisions.
When she’s not supporting residents and families, Elaine enjoys spending time with her husband, Mark, their two daughters, and their golden retriever, Sammy. In her free time, she loves traveling, golfing, gardening, and playing pickleball.
Kris Wuerdeman – Memory Care Director
Kris Wuerdeman is a dedicated advocate for adults living with memory loss and caregiver wellness, a passion rooted in her personal experience as a primary caregiver for her mother. She has worked in the healthcare industry for over 15 years and, in 2016, founded That Place You Know, LLC, a state-licensed social adult day program specializing in a holistic approach to memory care.
Kris is a Certified Validation Teacher (CVT), Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC), and an INELDA trained End-of-Life Doula. Her expertise focuses on cognitive health and caregiver support, utilizing empathy-based communication to improve relationships and bring renewed meaning to the lives of those navigating memory loss.
As a recognized national and international speaker and dementia health coach, Kris has appeared on television, radio, and in print media to share the effectiveness of the Validation Method. She has taught Validation workshops to families, medical professionals, and caregivers, focusing on empathy and respect to build trusting relationships. She feels strongly that every person has a unique story to be told that leads them to a place of unconditional acceptance. Validation allows us to step into another person’s world without social boundaries, connecting as individuals through compassion, respect, and dignity.
